Q: What do I do first?
A: You have already begun, get informed about what
self-injury is and what it is not. The goal is to find out what you can
and ask for help. Take a breath and reach out, let someone help you or your
loved one with the issues affecting your life.
Q: Who is The Healing House for?
A: Adolescent boy’s and girl’s over the age of
twelve and men and women who have a pattern of self-injury related behaviors
that are interfering with health, relationships, creativity, job and or
career. We have not found that actively suicidal or persons with
previously diagnosed developmental disabilities or autism are successful in
our programs. We do not accept involuntary clients.
Q: How long is the treatment program
and what
type of treatment do you offer?
A: The length of treatment is
typically 60 days for the Intensive Out Patient with an extra 30 days for
aftercare. Please click on Our Services Our Services to view our program
options.
Q: Who are the therapists? A: Clients at the Healing House are seen by experts in the field and study
of self-injury- including psychiatrists, social workers, art therapists and
addictive disorder specialists.
Q: What is important for me to know at
this point? A: People
stop self-injuring. Self-injury does not mean you or your loved one is
crazy. It is okay to feel scared and confused. It is hard to go through
this alone. It might be time to ask for help.
Q: Do insurance plans cover this treatment
program? A: Each individual
insurance policy has its own
unique benefit package. Please call your insurance provider and inquire about
the benefits and limitations of coverage. The staff at The Healing House will
help in any way we can to make all aspects of the program, including financial
considerations as manageable as possible.
